Back in April a dear friend of mine (Darryl) lost his husband (David) rather suddenly.  A couple months after his passing he reached out to me to see if I would make him and his mom a quilt from his old button down shirts. I got about 100 shirts and made 2 quilts, one in black tones, one in blue. I wanted to showcase the shirts so they are quite simple 9 inch squares sewn in 10 rows of 9. I've named them David's Legacy. Cant wait to give it to him Smiley

Oh, this is such a lovely remembrance! I think your choice of making the larger-ish squares really does highlight the shirt material and will offer so much comfort and so many memories to Darryl and David's mom.

I love that you did this, it's such a beautiful gift. They both look wonderful and snuggling with them will be like receiving dozens of hugs at once. So many memories are stitched into those quilts.

And my sympathies about the grumpy sewing machine. That's not such a fun job to do. I hope your friends really appreciate all your hard work!

I'm not online as much as I used to be, don't panic if it takes a while for me to reply to things Smiley.

A very lovely way to give a physical memorial of a passed loved one. You did a beautiful job on the quilts.
