I love suprises and I was having a look at some of the craft subscription boxes and they are $$$$ so I suggested to my DH that he creates them for me for christmas presents (he is always stuck for ideas) And then I thought that I could do the same for him. So I need help coming up with some kit ideas and if you think of anything else to go into them, please let me know.

Crafts
resin pours (resin, moulds, findings like cabuchons etc)
Patchwork (FQs, pattern,)
General sewing (fabric, notions, tape, cute buttons, patterns)
Jewellery making ( beads, findings, wire, charms)

and then I ran out of ideas?Huh

For him-he doesn't do a whole lot of crafts, he does big DIY projects instead
Mushroom growing (i know you can buy these kits online)
Recipe-he's recently become veggie, so a meal kit with recipe, and maybe things like mise-en place bowls.

And now I am out of ideas for him too...

What a fun idea. Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but here are some suggestions right off the top of my head.

For him:
Novelty boxer shorts and/or fun socks
If he drinks, either a 12 pack of beers from around the world, or some samples of good bourbons, or some good wine with wine glasses
Childhood memories: vintage candy, baseball cards, a paddle ball game, bubbles, a cap gun or slingshot, etc
Car accessories: tire gauge, ArmourAll, fabric basket for trash, travel mug
Men's skin care: nice soap, moisturizer, etc

For you:
Dang, whatever you want. Make him a great list!

For him: Make your own gin/wine
             knife sharpener
             comics, graphic novels
             nice pen and journal/idea book
whittling kit (nice knife, wood, book)

Crafty stuff: felt soap or animal
spa day (bath bombs, shower bombs, soap, lotion)
                   origami paper and book
                   Grow a _________garden

He doesn't drink alcohol which has excluded a whole raft of things! But the knife sharpening/Making kit has been added to the list.

I've been looking through the __in a box thread, and this is slightly different, in that I want things that are kits to make stuff, rather than themes. A gardening kit is also a really good idea for him,

Oh! What about flavored oils or vinegars?

You could also do a location/travel in a box. Pick a destination and add foods, books and other location-specific stuff.

A conservation/nature box (if you are into that thing) with bird watching books, a journal, maps.

 A stamp making box

along with the flavored oil/vinegar idea, you could do spice mixes.

There is an actual spice mix monthly subscription box that sends you little packets of spice blends with recipes to use them with.

Oh yes, making flavoured oils and vinegars, and spice rubs/mixes plus recipes-nice one!
