Class/Challenge: CoMC
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Unicorn Batts
Brief Description: After I tested out the waters with neutral fiber that I wouldn't get too attached to if I screwed it up, I went the total opposite direction for my next blending board foray - crazy colors, multiple add-ins, the works.  This is a teal, hot pink and neon green BFL braid that I blended with some black/white/purple alpaca, some darker teal merino, sari silk, firestar (glitter for yarn), and bamboo.  In my head, I use the yarn from these batts to weave matching scarves for all three of my nieces.  Reality complicates this slightly, since I don't actually own a loom, but for whatever reason that's what sticks.  I actually have one bobbin of this spun already, so completed yarn soon to come?
Project Picture:
This about half - I got ~8 batts out of the 4 oz braid + adds.

Class/Challenge:  Charms
House:  Ravenclaw
Project Name: Special Timepiece
Brief Description:  An up-close clock and side table area for SIL, who has health issues and needs things visible in a specific room.  Angling the clock from a low level will make it easier for her to see.  The clock has a photo of her granddaughters who are growing like weeds.  This is (another!) stained wood project from downed trees, and has metal legs.  This will be SIL's Christmas gift.

For those of you who wish to send cards to Vikki, I have an address for her now.  Her mum says she would appreciate any cards or kinds words right now, to know people are thinking of her.  If you'd like the address, please send me a PM.  I don't wish to post it publicly.

Holiday Owl Post Exchange
As the Head of Gryffindor house, I'm organizing a holiday card exchange. It is open to any Hogwarts student who would like to participate. The cards may be created by you or store bought. Let's share some seasonal cheer! If you are interested, please send me your mailing address in a pm by November 30. I will organize a list and send it to everyone who signed up. You can choose to send to addresses internationally, or to those only in your home country. This is not an official swap so tracking is not necessary. I also will not be monitoring who has sent and received. Whose ready for some Owl Post?

Class/challenge -Headmistress -burrow challenge
house- gryffindor
project- upcycled cape

This weekend, I was in a theatre performance of "The Games Afoot". I needed to dress as a 1930's actress going to a formal Christmas party. I had very little budget to spend on it though. I found a lovely dress at salvation army, but my director wanted me to have a covering on my arms to suit the time period. I kept looking around the shop until I found something I could upcycle. The color of this frilly nightie looked great with my dress, and would save me from hemming the edges.
I cut out what I didn't need from the top part, and sewed the remaining skirt to the neckline of the dress.  There was enough fabric to create a flirty cape instead of just sleeves.

That is such a clever idea to use the nightie!
