Class/Challenge: Herbology
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Green Candle
Brief Description: This was the first time I had come back to candlemaking in....6-8 years?  A lot of the time this session was cleaning out old jars to prep them for future sessions, but I did have one applesauce jar that I had previously cleaned and saved, so I made this green, pine scented candle (honestly, just because the pine scent bar was on the top of the stack when I dragged all the supplies out!  It's green in the color sense, and in the environmental sense, since it's mostly recycled wax from candle stubs.

Class/Challenge:Study of Ancient Runes
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name & Page Link: Art Fairy
Brief Description: I watched a Tamara LaPorte video on how to make an "art fairy" to send yourself a message about your art.  Recently I'd been overloaded with my new job, and trying to fit in crafting felt like a job, so I needed the message that it was okay to not craft for a while.  I finished her this morning after starting to dig my craft room out after taking the needed break. Smiley I think this is the happiest I've ever been with a face that I've drawn.

And for Advanced Studies Friday, I've picked my pants pattern to try!

Class: Flying
House: Gryfifndor
Project Name & Page Link: Cozy Silk Slippers

Brief Description: These cute little slippers feature many, many loops!  In fact, since they are crocheted, they are created entirely of loops pulled through other loops!  I love how soft, and utterly cosy they are.  The silk feels decadent on the skin, and I don't want to take them off.

Challenge: Detention - Stash
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name & Page Link:  Silk Fingerless Gloves for Apple Watch

Brief Description:  I decided to bust some more stash by making a pair of fingerless gloves to match my new slippers.  I started with the Easy Peasy Quick Mitts Pattern.  I did the right mitt as written, but I altered the left mitt to have a little window for my Apple Watch.

Challenge: Holiday Hallowe'en Challenge
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name & Page Link: Maple Pecan Blondies

Brief Description: I decided to bake up a tray of treats to celebrate the flavors of fall just in time for Halloween.  This may be my favorite new baking recipe.  They were freakin' amazing.

~*COMPLETED OWL/NEWT*~
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Transfiguration OWL - Dragon Quilt
Brief Description: Using Obsessively Stitchings' 1st Quilt Ever Tutorial I transformed some plain fabric squares into nine-patch quilt blocks, and from there into a scrappy looking disappearing nine-patch quilt.

Apologies for the picture quality - my camera would not correct its white balance settings for love nor money the day I was taking photos.

I'm totally in love with the art fairy and think it's awesome to have reassurance that "it's okay."  Ooh and there's a date stamp in the corner!  That brings back sweet memories of library visits back in the day.

Putting an Apple Watch window in gloves is clever.  The slippers look cozy.

gaudiknight, your quilt is wonderful!

ErinAquaheart, you are quite the multitalented artisan.  Your jewelry adds just the right bling to an outfit.

Congrats, midkiffsjoy!

Class/Challenge: Alchemy
SPEW:
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Peppermint cookie cutter bath bombs  http://www.momalwaysfindsout.com/how-to-make-bath-bombs/
Brief Description: These are definitely sandy in texture! They smell amazing and work very well in the bath!
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge: Divination
SPEW:
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Butternut squash soup
Brief Description:
I use a knife to cut up all the vegetables in this soup! I do not follow a recipe for it - just make it how I think tastes good. I can give a sort of recipe for it though.
1 butternut squash
olive oil
2 onions
2Tbsp garlic
4 carrots
salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp old bay seasoning
1 tsp curry powder
about 6 cups water
6 tsp better than bullion seasoning
heavy cream

Cut of ends and scoop out guts of squash (save the seeds!). Roast in a pan with 1 cup water in oven at 400 degrees farenheight for about 45 min until soft. Let cool a bit and remove skin. Meanwhile, in a large pot, saut onions in olive oil till translucent. Add carrots and cook another few min. Add garlic and all seasoning but the better than bullion, blending well before adding water. Bring up to a boil and let simmer until carrots are soft. Add better than bullion and squash to mixture. Blend with immersion blender or in a food processor until smooth (or desired consistency). Add heavy cream to liking (I put about half a cup in the pot).

It is delicious and warming and goes deliciously with grilled cheese sandwiches!

Class/Challenge: Transfiguration
SPEW:
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Fresh lavender and Oatmeal Soap
Brief Description:
I made a new batch of delicious smelling lavender oatmeal soap! I followed Jan Berrys recipe from one of her books. Soap is definitely something soft and liquid that turns to a solid.

Class/Challenge: Hagrids Giant Pumpkins Challenge
SPEW:
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Large Jane Dress
Brief Description: One of my side jobs is making costumes for kids. Typically, I work in the age/size range of two year olds to eight year olds because I piece three different patterns together to make a costume and they only go up to a size 8. Well I had someone ask me to make one in a size 12/14. I had to find and adjust new pattern pieces and use extra yards of fabric that was an enormous undertaking! So glad I have a 12 year old kid to try it on and model it for me!

Class/Challenge: Halloween Challenge
SPEW:
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name & Page Link: Wendy Costume Simplicity 1184
Brief Description:
I made my daughter a sweet Wendy Costume! It was made using a pattern by Simplicity ll84. Her first name (Maire) is also Wendys middle name (though probably spelled differently)! This also fits Slytherin Houses 6th prompt of costumes. Smiley
