So to make a long story short, my son had cancer when he was 3 years old. He's now 13. So things that relate to childhood cancer are near and dear to us. The colour for childhood cancer ribbons is gold. I made this blanket to donate to a wonderful mama who is going to auction it off to raise funds to take all the warrior mama's away for a retreat. It's going to be done during September which is the awarness month for childhood cancer. I wanted it to be neutral yet reflect the cancer colour as well. I found this yarn on clearnace and thought it was perfect. Thank you for reading this far and looking at my work!

Cancer, and childhood cancer, is the worst! It must have been so hard when your son was ill, but happy to read he is doing much better! I think this is a wonderful cause and a fantastic blanket. I hope this fundraiser does well. Blessings to all.

It's gorgeous (I'm partial to variegated yarn.  Wink) and of course the stitch is perfect!  Shocked

Hugs to you mama, and your young man too. I can't even imagine.
What can we do when life hands us an impossible challenge? Craft therapy works pretty well for me too. You did good work here, and for a great cause. XO

Thank you everyone. My son is doing alright over all. Dealing with a few health issues left over from chemo but we have him still and we can over come these things like we did cancer!

What a beautiful afghan!  I'm sure it will go a long way to help those mama's take a much needed break to recharge, and come back to fight the good fight even harder.  Well done.
