Colored pencil magazine had a challenge once a month. This is their July challenge. I learned a lot drawing this picture.

Masterfully done, I too thought those were real cupcakes when I saw the thumbnail image on the main page, and I'm still not convinced that they're not!  The way you rendered the translucence of the paper cups revealing the cake inside is particularly impressive as are the shadows/forms of the frosting on their tops.

Thank you. I started using Prismacolor colored pencils in high school more than 20 years ago, and have played with them a little since then, but I am learning that this is a whole new world opening up to me in techniques I never knew existed. I'm hoping to get better and faster.

I don't bake nearly as well as I draw.
