Crafting through my hoard of supplies...

one of my lifejournal pages

Hey guys... I love doing art journaling and our local groups have disbanded... I was in a couple groups who would meet once a month and exchange journals.

How this worked was we bought ourselves the book we wanted to use, then we decorated the outside and inner cover as well as two pages.  We chose a theme for our overall journal that would allow for artist interpretation for the group to add to.  Then we took someone elses home each month, worked a page or two in their journals, then got back together to share what we created and move to the next journal.

I have been contemplating how we would do that here.  So here is my proposal.  we would do art journal pages based on a size chosen by each craftster.  They will post the size they desire in their questionaire or post and each person will create a page per month on a round robin of participants.  The single art page decorated on two sides will be sent to the journal owner.  Papers should be heavier sturdy weight to be bound later by the journal owner in whatever manner they see fit.  Binding techniques and ideas can be shared via the discussion thread.  My idea takes after Tamara Laporte's Lifebook series, I have been in a couple of times.

I figure this way, we won't have to spend the money on sending a whole journal back and forth!  New participants can be added into the list and those who want out can be dropped off, go until we decide we are done?

any thoughts on this or ideas to make it better?  I am also open to themes each month but I also like coming up with something that the owner wants represented as well.

Love to hear what you think!

Tam's completed lifebook from 2012

and someone's from 2017

another example

one from 2016

sorry no order... lol one from 2013

another Tam journal

Plenty more ideas out there... Hope there is some interest!!!

Pretty much it but I want a round robin continuous monthly swap so we fill our books up!  So once you finish and complete say we set a time like ongoing atcs... then you can move to the nxt person on the list...

I like that idea!  Cheesy

I think it would do well as an ongoing chain claiming swap (like ATCs) but with less open claims allowed than the ATC swap. I would be up for a monthly theme along with a list of wishes. The monthly theme would be a great fall back option and if someone doesn't like the month's theme they can skip that month. A list of wishes would be nice for variety  Smiley Maybe require everyone to have 5 (or more) theme wishes to keep the swap from stalling?

I like it either way - I ran the Fabric Art Journal Page Swaps a few times and I have yet to assemble that book.

But I love paper and would love to have a specific size to work on and a new book to create.

On-going claims or monthly swaps - both ways work for me.

You know this may work best doing an ongoing like our atcs so we can best manage... that way we can present themes and there's no required amount per month just deadline for claims to be sent if you make any.    Will just need to decide on limits for outstanding claims for FOC vs regular swappers...  art journal pages are more in depth than atc... would we cut it down to no more than 5 outstanding for FOC and 3 for regular or 7 for FOC and 5 for regular?  2 weeks for the claim deadlines?

I would be interested in this!  I went WAY overboard with buying supplies when I first got into art journaling, and I would love to take a shot at making pages for others.  I am quite slow though, so I would support any format that meant I could go at my pace (maybe only one a month).

I'll be watching this to see what it turns into... I enjoy random journaling but haven't done much in ages.

I would like this, but my preference would be for art on just one side of the page (we could do two pages perhaps) as I fill in my journals after i bind them, so I'd want to stick something down.
