A  co-worker at my new job had a baby just after I started working there. Usually I would have made a gift but I only learned about it a day before it was to happen so what's a girl to do? Luckily it's his bday just a couple of weeks later and the calendar gave me lots of notice about that event so...

Her 4 letter name (Zoey) is perfect for a block!

The letters and shapes are applied with fusible web then zigzag stitched around for maximum security. The ribbons and sides are stitched with a pretty small stitch length too. Baby safety Smiley.

And I was able to use all sorts of colourful fabrics and ribbons from my stash.

I did have to purchase the jingle, it's a  plastic kitty ball with jingle bell inside folded up in a long strip of quilting batting that is then rolled tightly and stuffed into the block shell. It holds a pretty square shape surprisingly well I think.

I sure hope he doesn't mind that the present is not exactly for him, I have a feeling he'll be ok with it Cheesy.

What a wonderful gift! And especially as it is for a near stranger and his offspring!

Aw, thanks all Smiley. I will have to wait to see though, that stinker took the day off work! LOL, good for him. And serves me right for last minute crafting (I was at it last night and finished the closing stitches before work today).
