A dear friend from High School's oldest daughter recently got married, so I was was looking for the perfect quilt to make her.  It was suggested to me to make a double wedding ring quilt, so I started looking at those.  Then, I came across a Vegas Wedding Ring pattern and I know that was perfect because: she lives in Vegas and got married in his same chapel her parents were married in. I just had to!

All folded up nice and pretty:

I took it to a new local quilt shop to have it machine quilted. I love how the quilting doesn't compete with the piecing!:

Fun fact: this was the first time I've taken a quilt to get it machine quilted. I'm just now exploring into quilts that are large enough to "need" to do that! I'm not entirely sure of exact measurement, but it is about 63" squared.

I also noticed these pictures don't really show it, but the white colors have hearts all over it. Her wedding colors were peach and white, so that was a little bit of a tricky combo to figure out, but some wonderful quilters at a different quilt store helped me figure that out.

Here I am sewing the binding to the front (photo credit to my son):

After that, I hand sewed the binding to the back. No picture of that.

There are several spots in the piecing where I am off by a large margin--some as much as 1/4 inch. There are also a couple of spots where my iron decided it was going to give "ink splot" spots before I was able to get it cleaned off (lucky, as I'm still figuring all this out. As I was making it, I contemplated fixing the imperfect spots, but I decided not to. Part of that was laziness and knowing that it was my cutting skills that caused the imperfect corners (although there are plenty of perfect, too, which makes me super happy!). This pattern called for cutting at 1/8 and 7/8 a lot and that is a bit trickier to be accurate than say 1/2 inch. Anyway.

I have this to tell her: marriage isn't always perfect, but it can still be beautiful.

 Right?!

So, after all this work, I needed to add a label. I considered getting out the embroidery machine and playing around with it. (I haven't really used it much yet.) I only have a 4" space to work in, and decided I'd just hand stitch something, and I came up with this:

(While I am not a "real" aunt, her mom (hence her) are part of chosen family.)

Thank you so much for looking. Now, to make up a card for her, and send it to her. I can't wait to hear what she thinks. I've sent her mom some pictures and she says she'll love it and be very surprised.

Simply exquisite!  All the love that went into every stitch!  And your motto "marriage isn't always perfect, but it can still be beautiful" will go into the hallowed halls of Craftster (up there with "use the good beads").

I'm always fascinated by people who are able to quilt, my mother's done it most of my life, and this one is just beautiful! I love the quilting stitch pattern you chose as well.
