If you follow the 50 projects in 2019 or the destashalong threads, you may have heard that my local craft store is going out of business and liquidating their stock. This means I can get amazing deals on all sorts of things: like 12" by 12" cardstock paper. So, I recently bought 36 packages of 25 pages (they were buy 4 at 50% off, get 5 free....I mean, c'mon!) So, that's 900 sheets....PLUS the stock my husband let me buy for Mother's Day at a slightly not as great deal.

Anyway, what better thing to do with all this paper than practice making books (I've gotten braver with that in the book binding craftalong)?

I don't usually craft for family; they tend to prefer store bought things. This means, my main crafting is for you guys! Well, my newly 16 year old niece loves to draw, so my daughter and I thought she'd like a journal. I was going to have one that was folded with signatures, but when I used my Cricut and cut out the rocket design (it is her school mascot), it was edge to edge with the fold and it would mess it up. So, I decided to do a flip up book instead.

I used double sided tape to hold each page together, then I cut a 3" (or so, I forget) binding edge thingy (so professional) and I used double sided tape to hold it in place on the front. I used E6000 on the spine and folded it over. The back edge I folded over slightly (like, 1/8 inch) and I used double sided tape to hold together.

Inside the book it goes 3 gold pages, 1 maroon, 3 good maroon...you get the picture. There are 12 gold pages, and 3 maroon. I had booklets of watercolor paper that I wasn't using, so I cut them down and glued them to the gold pages.  I cut lined paper onto the maroon pages. The booklet is 5"x7"

I hope she has fun with it! Thanks for looking!

It looks great! I love notebooks, so handy for all sorts of things. A custom personalized book is just the best.
