Ta neige, Acadie, fait des larmes au soleil

This is a retirement gift for a coworker who would always tell me when it was the full moon! She always knew exactly what type of moon it was (harvest, wolf, super, etc.) and would say that she'd be leaving her crystals outside to charge in the light.

I remember hearing someone else say that they rarely worked with pure black and white and would just pick variations on the other colors they were using, to enhance the overall color scheme. So for this piece I outlined the crystals in dark indigo and stitched the moon in pale lavender. I think the color theory holds up!

The moons are stitched with a very small chain stitch, which took FOR.EVER. but I really like how it looks.

I'm mailing this to her tomorrow, and I hope it brings her joy! Every time she saw me working on an embroidery she gave me the best reactions and comments.

Beautiful work!  And yeah, 'black and white' isn't really at all.  I've designed so many shows where the director decided to 'be different' and do the show in all black & white, which really translated to using a million shades of grey on stage.  Well done doing the same with shades of purple.  The colors you chose were spot-on.  Cheesy

HOLEY MOLEY!  Look at that tiny stitching!  How long did the moons take to make?
