I made a rainbow parasol!

Pattern: Moe of Change (free on Ravelry)
Yarn: Lion Brand Mandala in Gnome
Hook: J (6.0 mm)

I wanted it to be colorful, but I didn't want to weave in a bunch of ends, so I used a cake of Lion Brand Mandala & only had 2 ends to weave in! Grin

With a single cake of the yarn, I ended up crocheting rounds 1-31 and modifying round 31 to use sc instead of dc because I ran out of yarn. It did end up a bit too small for the frame I was originally going to use, but fits perfectly on my umbrella. Smiley

The umbrella is just a folding one that's usually in my purse - I stretched the yarn over the ends of the umbrella spokes so it's not connected permanently.

Spoke placement: My umbrella happens to have 6 sections & the patterns I used has a central hexagon design. There are sections in round 30 where there are 3 ch5 loops separated by sc stitches - I put my umbrella spokes in the middle ch5 (circled in red).

Beautiful job, and a clever yarn choice. I love the idea of dressing up a parasol.  Cheesy

My gosh, this is just the loveliest. You did a beautiful job. Thank you so much for sharing and the link to the pattern. I will be making this for sure. We've got a clear umbrella with an injury that will be obvious if fixed. I would love to keep it and a rainbow cover to turn it into a parasol is JUST the ticket. Especially since I have a single ball of that yarn in a slightly more muted rainbow.

Gorgeous!
