How many of you also have all this mermaid & ocean themed party food and decor cluttering up your pinterest account? LOL, my daughter has been wanting an excuse to try some of it out and she finally got the opportunity in French class, of all places. Groups of students were assigned a cafe exercise, they had to create menus in French and serve some sort of food to groups of 4 kids at a time. I don't think the teacher was expecting quite such an extravaganza but what can I say? When one of the kids asks me to help them get crafty I just can't resist.

Here is the inside of a menu, all en Franais, ooh la la!

Everything had a cute label card in English though, don't want to confuse the kiddies too much!

There were mini jam and cream cheese croissants with google eyes to make them look like wee crabs.

Tiny clam shell cookies with icing and candy pearls.

Rice crispy sushi, gummy fish and fruit rolls ups (they do not make green anymore, only this rainbow stuff. Still cute!).

Hot dog squid with google eyes (I'm kinda crazy about the googles).

Just look at that spread! There are 2 jugs of lemon and lime ade coloured blue and green. Their restaurant was rated 1000 stars Cheesy.

The bunting on the table is made from the same papers as these menus.

My small girl didn't get to bed until 10PM because we were so busy attending to every detail.

All that's missing is a platter of cupcakes decorated with turtles made from gummy candies, my daughter's class-mate brought it in after we'd set up. I'll see if the teacher has a photo to share because they were KEYOOT!

It was hard to choose a favourite but the eyeball squid dogs won out in the end, they are just too funny.
