 It doesn't matter whether it's gears, pipes, old fashioned lightbulbs,  or any other industrial looking bookends. Just looking for inspiration and a price I can afford.

It would be so helpful if you linked to an example or two of what you're thinking of. Then there'd be a starting place for suggestions.

Yes- what kind of thing are you thinking about and what kind of crafting do you do - that would help to narrow things down a bit.

I would be tempted to go to thrift stores or something and remake something to make it into bookends.
