I made a couple coordinating door decorations for the summer season... something I have meant to do for a couple years, but always get so busy with other projects this time of year. FINALLY! This one is ~8"  and for the balcony door which is directly above the front door.

They're both made with thrifted embroidery hoops, window screen, silk flowers, galvanized metal initials, hem tape, and ric rac. Most was from stash with the exception of the hoops and the flowers.

This 14" one is for the front door.

Because they're visible through the door screen and window, I tidied up the back a little by gluing ric rac on the back of the hoops.

Aw, this is so cute. I love the rickrack peeking out around the back of the hoop, what a great detail! And also, how clever to use screen. I tried embroidering on mesh and it was so impossible, this is an excellent idea!

I'm not online as much as I used to be, don't panic if it takes a while for me to reply to things Smiley.

Awwww, thank you! Summer is about open windows and for us that means insect screen, so it just seemed like the right thing for us.

It's interesting to see how the different elements come together, It's quite classy and customizable obviously! After you've changed the letters to whatever you need, I think it would nearly suit almost anybody! Hope to see more people trying this out so I can get a better idea of what we can achieve here.
