Going Buggy - Stumpwork Bugs

I'm not sure what inspired me to make all these. I blame it on a phase  I typically stitch from reference photos but for some of these I went rogue and added different colors or patterning. For any that are directly inspired, I'm including the reference pictures for fun.

These are amazing!  I love your stumpwork projects.

I adore each and every one of these individually and by name. I think the spider is my favorite, though. The colors are a little different, but it reminds me of the orb weaver I "adopted" as a child (She still lived outside, but I caught bugs and fed her every day, and then when she died I took her egg sac with me and eventually hatched it and released the babies).

I love the way you do the wings, especially the fake-transparent bits. I know you can't see through it, but it does a great job getting across the feel of the wings. Excellent wrapped wire legs, too. *hearts*

I'd love to someday see a larger art piece with several of these stumpwork bugs with glass head pins stuck through them and old-fashioned entomological labels to make it look like a Cabinet of Curiosities bug collection.
