I'm asking in the knitting section because even though I mostly crochet I know better than to try it with anything that looks like this! LOL. It's fluffy, it's fuzzy, it is impossible to manipulate with a hook. I intend to sew it on to my finished pieces to make awesome realistic looking prickly cacti! But first, I need to find the stuff. If y'all wouldn't mind taking a look and letting me know if you are aware of specific names I can google search for sale, I would be forever grateful for your assistance. And if you happen to have white remnants with no purpose, I would be thrilled to make an exchange with you as I really only need a small amount. Thank you in advance!

It looks like fun fur/eyelash fur to me.  If other people agree that's what it is, I can send you some, I think.  I think I have white.

I for sure think it is some sort of eyelash sort of thing but there is a kind in those photos with sparkles that is pretty cool. I found this one but whew, what a price! And this one is even worse! My goodness, what even.

I would happily swap you for whatever you've got, I totally appreciate it! Honestly, $80 for some acrylic yarn, lol, that is the craziest!

Maybe if somebody recognizes something they'd remember a brand or type name I could use to search.

If it is eyelash, use a much larger hook. Like an L or M and an open stitch.

I'm using the smallest hook possible for these amigurumi so I can stuff them tightly. I'm not hooking the fluffy yarn though, it's only getting woven in with a needle. I found something that looks like chenille that might work, I'm going to try it out & see
