The ManFlesh has a birthday coming up. He's a self-proclaimed Book Nerd.

Since his birthday is May 15, he refers to it as the Ides of May.

I did a wrap around bit to give a nod to his book writing.

And his initial on the inside wrist using a typewriter key-looking font.

Delia is always very curious about what we're up to, so I let her have a sniff after all the various chemicals has done their off-gassing. I did not try to pet her with it, but now I wish I had before I wrapped it.

To transfer the images to the hand I used laser printed images and Xylene. I wish the results had been a bit more consistent, but oh well! The knuck letters are my fave.

I don't know where exactly I stumbled up the inspiration pieces, but I restumbled upon them on my pinterest board set aside for gift ideas for the aforementioned The ManFlesh. The originals are sooooo cool. They are hand-painted and original art! They are in an etsy store, ahem.

Neat and creative re-purposing of a mannequin's hand.  Were you able to acquire the hand by itself or did you take it off an entire arm and/or body?

Thanks! This is just a model hand sold at art supply stores.

I think you need to liven up your story about the source of the wooden hand.  Something about a sailor known as Lefty, perhaps...

Lovely work!

Such a great present.
A Happy Birthday for your husband!

I'm a book lover too.
(And my birthday is the 18th.)
