In preparation for my upcoming travels, I wanted some sort of journal to keep track of things.
Enamored by the traveler's journal flexible style of being able to combine different notebook inserts and pockets, I set out to make a scrappy fabric cover.
It was fun raiding my stash of fabric scraps for choice bits (pdx carpet fabric!!!).  I already had the right interfacing., gromets, etc. I needed for my project.  The only thing I purchased was the black elastic cording  Roll Eyes

Here's the completed front cover.  And yes, there's a clip on charm as well!  I will probably make/add other charms later because they're fun to make.

Back view of cover...

Folder insert for storing papery bits that I might save during my travels.

Covers of some of the notebook inserts I assembled (everything came from my stash).

View of inside pages of one of the notebook inserts.

One more notebook insert...

Thanks for checking out my project! Smiley

Oh my goodness, I love this!  Did you work from a pattern or just wing it?  I think I need one.

This is simply gorgeous. I'm sure when it gets more loved and broken in, it will just add to the charm.
I'm definitely not patient enough to sew straight lines, but you almost make me want to try!

Nice cover, and I like the lined/grid paper combo in the insert.  Cool! Smiley

Ugh, it's like Thanos, ok?  the long E is the feminine ending.  (Also, I prefer *not* to destroy the universe when possible.)

That is amazing! Beautifully made, so much juicy colour and pattern, I love it!

There's a book making along going on, maybe you'd consider adding your project there as inspiration. It's is just fabulous.

I think the only thing wrong with that is that I don't own it. LOVE the fabric combination on the cover!! And the patterns and colors on the inside: swoon. Love it.

This is awesome! I love that you added a space for swappable charms. After living in Japan I have a ridiculous collection of tiny clip-on cell phone charms, and no where to stick them. Now I want to start randomly adding grommets to things so I can stick charms on them! You've organized the inside very neatly and made it both functional and beautiful. The scraps for the outside are really nicely matched/contrasted, as well. A very pretty and professional-looking effort all around. I hope it serves you faithfully on many amazing trips! Smiley

If I may ask, what type of interfacing did you use?
