Every year for the last 3 years or so, we have framed about 40 pieces of art and held an auction on the night of the upper elementary concert. This year, we discussed also auctioning a mini quilt. My art teacher friend and I picked out 12 pieces of artwork made by 6th grade. I photographed them and put them into a 4-square frame on an app I use, and uploaded them to Spoonflower to print as an 8x8 swatch.

Here's one:

These finally arrived today, so I cut each of the 12 pieces out, and decided to piece them like so:

Between each square is a 1.5" strip and between each row is a 1" strip. The borders are also 1 in. I decide to make it the style where you run a rod through a pocket  and also that the recipient can hang either vertical or horizontal, so I installed 2 pockets.

It measures about about 13" by 16".
Thanks for looking!

How cool is that!? Really freakin' cool! What a lovely way to treat the students' artworks! And so thoughtful of you to include a way to hang it, including horizontal and vertical!

This is so, so cool! What a great idea, and what a great way to promote interest in the arts. Bet the kids loved having their works included.

What a great idea for expanding the auction offerings! I love that you're helping people see fabric as an art form medium. I would expect combining several students' works into one piece should also increase the bidding. I can picture a riot breaking out though as one parent tries to outbid another. Hooray for family pride!

It was successful!!!!!!!!!

Our school principal was the winner, so it will be displaced in the office!

This quilt raised about $95!!

One parent purchased 30--$1 tickets! I was bummed she didn't win with that huge donation, but I told her I could commission her another one! She is very happy about this!

We weren't sure how it would go, and it went even better than we could have hoped.
