I felt embarrassed to send this wonky mug rug to quaggy for the Craft Appreciation swap, but Ill share it anyway.

The story starts with some 1980s fabric that I bought recently at my local recycled art materials shop.

Rose Fever Wearable Art, complete with instructions on how to embellish your everyday sweatshirts, jeans, tote bags, and jackets with ginormous yellow roses. I bought the fabric because I want to frame some vintage patterns from the 1970s and I thought I could use the somewhat-garish roses as a mat.

Then when I joined the Craft Appreciation swap, I thought I could save the craft-related text from the wastebin and use it for a project. Quaggy mentioned twice that she might like a mug rug, so I used the text-fabric on the edges of the long strips.

Quaggy is such an expert seamstress that I almost wimped out and didnt send it to her. Ack! wonky binding... Ack! words look crooked... (they are actually printed crooked on the fabric.)

But it was made with love and made for her and made to celebrate our shared love of crafts. So off it went.

At least the backside looked presentable.

There's not much in this world that can't be improved by either chocolate, bacon or glitter.

Aw, don't be so hard on yourself! I really like the way the words are a little "wonky"; it really suits the piecework of this mug rug!

I'm probably alone in liking the floral print >>

But I love how you used the text in the mug rug! The print on the back is really cute, too.

I think you made the most beautiful thing possible with that fabric! I love the wonky words and the lovely accent fabrics you added. Now what are you going to do with those yellow roses? Maybe embellish your sweatshirt? Lovely. Cheesy
