She's here! My stunning Art Doll from cmarion3 arrived in perfect condition!

*BOOM, BABY!*

She's a Hone Onna - a Japanese yokai (legendary creature) - here's a link to a cool description: http://yokai.com/honeonna/

You can see what an amazing job cmarion did bringing the concept to life (she even replicated the kimono in the picture!!), and I love how she chose to represent the dual nature of the Hone Onna by combining a skeletal face with a sculpted mask of the pretty lady. The doll is pieced together from a jointed plastic skeleton and a wired cloth doll, so she can actually support the weight of the lantern she carries to wander through the night to her true love's house.

She has a traditional hairstyle from the Edo period (roughly) with beautiful comb and stick style kanzashi (hair ornaments) and lovely little geta slippers on both feet! She was wonderfully packed in the most hilariously tricked-out box (bless you, cmarion, for the cardboard acrobatics you clearly went through to get her to me safely. I wish I had taken a picture of all the layers!) with a lovely card.

I absolutely love her and appreciate that cmarion took the time to give her a little tag to remind me of this amazing swap. Here she is in my bedroom next to some of my personal Art Dolls and random nerd-ery. You'll notice she's not the only undead thing up there, so she's right at home!

Thank you a thousand times over, cmarion! She's perfect!  Grin *hearts*

And I received a beauty in return from EriChanHime! She is Amka, an Inuit name meaning "One with a friendly spirit." She is an Ijiraq, a wild shapeshifter from Inuit myth.

The detail is wonderful and I love her crow/raven head. She has fingers! (something that has always defeated me) And is poseable! Her clothes are lovingly made and wonderfully detailed, with a beaded necklace and bracelets. She is simply beautiful. I love her. She's keeping me company today while I work.

and she was packaged so well....note the plastic container around her head...excellent idea to steal!

OK. I received the most amazing rainbowy, mermaid-tailed, moth-winged, deep sea-inspired, space critter from The Raging Sloth! She somehow took all my themes and made something so fantastic! The fabric body and wings were all hand painted and the rainbow colors are blended so beautifully. There are individual scales painted over its ENTIRE body, plus little shimmery iridescent sequins. The antennae are stiffened embroidery floss with fun colors to match all the rainbowness. It looks like she made the beak with polymer clay. The eyes and lantern pieces are so neat, but I have no idea how she did them - they look like clear orbs filled with glitter and have so much dimension! I am so in love! This is the most perfect creation <3 Thanks soooo much Sloth for the awesome package and organizing (I want to do it again and again and again because this swap is so my favorite).

We also agreed to send extras based on things we already had on hand or were already working on! She sent me some goodies made for trading at festivals! They both nail my love of nature and earth tones. I definitely felt like they were made for me Cheesy

OH! And she sent me a nifty thrifted folding picture frame-ish thing that is totally going to be part of a fun mixed media creation Smiley It's in the top of the picture with the pouch and necklace she sent. Sorry - so excited about my doll and extras that I'm all over the place.
