Okay, so my son loves the video game Dark Souls and wanted a Dark Souls bonfire cake for his birthday. Not my cup of tea, but here it is!

...and the whole thing...

My husband doesnt like fondant, so the cake is iced in buttercream and just decorated with fondant rocks and such.

We tried to get a picture with all the candles lit, but the sword (which was made out of tootsie rolls) melted before we could get a shot!

The flames are melted Jolly Rancher candy and there is a flickering light behind them. The ashes are chopped cookies & cream Pocky sticks.

I know what Dark Souls is, but, I've never played it, although I'm sure I'd love  it.  Awesome sword & sorcery themed cake embellishments!  Chocolate swords are undependable like that in a firefight, lol.

Thanks, everyone! To make the flames, I crumpled a piece of parchment paper and melted small amounts of the jolly rancher candy in the creases. Tried to make the creases change directions so the flames would look more sinuous rather than straight lines. Covered the flickering tea light with Press and Seal. I had to leave the tea light turned on, because theres no way to pull it out and turn it off after you assemble the flames... not sure if there would be another way to handle it so it would work for a cake auction.
