I have a distant friend who was in a bad accident. A tree jumped out in front of her! She is recovering, and another friend is making a quilt for her.

I made two 6" squares, and then was asked if I could make a few more. For some reason, I can pop these off as long as I get a good theme going.

Moonrise

Sun Rise

Star Shine

These are absolutely gorgeous -- love all the colors and textures!

So very sorry about your friend. I hope she can heal quickly. She will adore this quilt when she sees it!

Those are stunning. You have a real eye for putting together mosaic-like, multi-textured pieces. I hope your friend recovers quickly and fully. I am sure seeing these blocks and a quilt made with such love will encourage her greatly. Smiley

Each one of those in amazeballs! Ack, I am in love with this work, beautifully done. I'm sure this will bring healing by virtue of it's artistry and obvious love.

I'm kind of speechless. These are so lovely and so interesting to just keep looking at. And what a lovely project to work together on to help a friend. I hope she heals quickly.

I wanted happy images, new day, rising, etc. etc.

I keep scraps. Big ones, little ones, medium ones. ACKKK. But then I can pull from every color, or hit my fat quarter stash. to make these. I start with a muslin or scrap fabric base, and then layer cut or torn strips and bits, layered up, then rows or patterns of stitching added. I wet them down, do a bit of scrubbing the fronts together to fray edges a bit more, then flatten and dry. Trim to size. They always shrink a bit...cotton you know.

Because you are using fabric, you have to keep things simple and impressionistic. Six inch squares are easy. I have a commission for a larger piece due in June. Wish me luck.

I can't wait to see what you make! This is just my style. I save all the scraps too, sorted by colour (that takes HOURS, lol). Lovely work.
