Like a lot of people in their 70s my mom kind of has everything she needs, so gift giving is getting more challenging particularly as we live far apart so taking her out or having her over isn't an option for all holidays. But she does have a thimble collection and she does love to putter in her yard, sooooo I made her a thimble box in which to put a gift card to her favorite plant nursery.

She displays her collection in her guest room which is decorated in dark blue with pink & tan accents. The metals in there are brass, so I chose gold cardstock which I used plain and then embossed with 2 different embossing folders using my Sizzix Big Shot.

The pattern for making the box came from SvgCuts and I used my Cricut explore to cut it.

And now I have to wait about 2.5 weeks to mail it!

This is so thoughtful and considerate and PRO looking, wow! You'd never guess it was made by hand, honestly it is perfection. The paper flower is a really gorgeous addition, nicely done.

Awwwww, you're so  sweet! Thank you! It's not the most pleasing-to-me of my paper projects, but I think she'll really appreciate it!

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.

Wonderful thimble box; that embossing looks really swank--the 3-dimensional leaves add nice visual variety to the usual dots that thimbles sport (does you Mother actually have one in her collection that looks like that?)  Beautiful and thoughtful gift!

Thanks, friends!

Not that I know of, but the leaves are a bit of an oopsie. I had misremembered where that band fit on the box and the reference image made it a bit difficult to tell, so I thought that band was going to be lower, about where the ribbon is. Many of the images I found when looking at thimbles had a band around that area that was a different texture than the dimpled "work surface." They usually weren't in the graphical style of the leaves, but the only similar embossing folder I have is snowflakes which would have made it inappropriate for her April birthday and more seasonal. I considered leaving the band off, but I think it really adds to the sturdiness of the box, I didn't think unembossed would be better, and if I'd gone with the dimples, I think it would've been even more awkward-looking.
