Mothera is a space fairy moth visiting Earth from a far planet. She has to wear a breathing helmet, but that doesn't stop her from flitting about the edges of the woods at night and exploring night gardens. She glows in the dark to help her find her way. She's very friendly but shy. I hope you get to meet her. P.S. I faked the glow in the dark in PhotoShop. I couldn't get a good picture.

I made Mothera for a recent dotee swap...and what a swap! Take a look! https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=457621.0

Her head is a styrofoam ball trimmed down and covered with navy fabric and a printed with starts and swirls navy organza. There may be a layer of purple organza in there as well. I tacked down some eyelashy yarn and glued a large flat marble eye in the center. But first I painted a galaxy eye, added several layers of glow in the dark paint and glued it to the back of the marble. It glows eerily at night.

her body is covered the same as the head with a flirty tail. I tacked rows of glow in the dark "yarn" to simulate a space suit.

The wings were from a dollar store with the body peeled off. Layers of paint, more jewels, and several layers of glow in the dark paint finished them off.

I ordered the clear plastic two-part Christmas balls. The tricky part was getting the gluing right with the body all squished up against the helmet. A string run through the head to pull it tight as the helmet/head glue dried, then run through the body and pulled tight to snug it up against the helmet. And LOTS OF GLUE (E6000).

There's not much in this world that can't be improved by either chocolate, bacon or glitter.

I think this is the weirdest thing you've ever made. I love it! So interesting, so much detail, just a solid WOW all over.

Sometimes I'm in awe (and a little afraid) of my own mind.

Thank you, everyone. I look back at my creations and think "I am so weird!" but I love my mind. It takes me places.

Adorable! I love that she comes with a backstory. You did a great job attaching all the pieces neatly, especially given the wide variety of material types! She seems very curious and friendly. Smiley
