Decoden letter block!

I have been decorating N letter blocks here and there.  this will be my sixth and most decorated block.  I love decoden (a Japanese trend short for "Decoration Denwa" - "Denwa" meaning "Phone", but people use this decoration method on a plethora of items like picture frames, jewelry boxes, handheld video game cases, etc.), and I've been wanting to do it for years.  I finally got the courage to do it a few months ago, but didn't really make anything until now (the "frosting" part made me nervous.  you use a product like whipple cream, silicone, or clay to decorate the item like you would a cake with icing tips.  and that's the part that made me nervous).



it includes some of my favorite things.  the bowl has a dollop of deco cream in it with mint and "chocolate" sprinkles and a spoon.  it's supposed to be like mint chocolate chip ice cream.  I am very happy with how it turned out, however, I'm not happy with the deco cream.  as it dries, it appears to melt.  so from now on, I'll be using 100% silicone to make my own deco cream.

Did you make the mermaid and other decorations?  If so, what are they made of?

Awesome! I've seen this style of phone case decoration, but I couldn't handle it on a functional level. I really like it as a decorative piece!

my name starts with an "n".  I probably should have mentioned that.  lol

I wish I had made them, but sadly no, I didn't.  I bought them online.  the pieces like the mermaid, star, etc. are resin and the green and brown "mint chip" pieces are polymer clay.

thanks!  yeah, it makes me nervous to think about using a phone case or even a handheld video game case (like the Nintendo DS/3DS/2DS or Sony PSP/Vita) decorated like this.  I'd be so afraid of everything popping off.  but for something like this, oh my YES!  I want to decoden EVERYTHING!!!  lol.  deco a new Kleenex cover (I think it would get too heavy to look good on a plastic canvas base), deco some jars, deco my shelves...

Very cool; it reminds me somewhat of the old Nintendo 64 logo/icon.  Your pastel design certainly looks edible and gives me the munchies, lol!  I've seen items decorated in this fashion before, but never heard the term "Decoden" until now (I've always known it as "Pimped or Blinged Out"), so, I've learned something new and interesting today.

HA!  you're right!!!  I see the N64 logo!  now I want to make one.  lol

and thanks!  yeah, it seems like decoden typically uses faux whipped cream, so I can see "pimped/blinged out" being used to describe items that have been encrusted with rhinestones and other shinies.  but I've seen those referred to as decoden too.  ok, to clear it up, from a website that sells decoden supplies, offers tutorials, etc., "The first series of decoden are generally decoration with crystals & rhinestones and they call it 'bling bling case'. Today, decoden has evolved to include different types of design/styles and materials!"  so I guess it's both styles.
