Class: Alchemy
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: Mistress Jennie's Guinness Stew (A narrative adventure)

Brief Description:  I decided to take advantage of the fact that St. Pat's was on a Sunday this year, and make something I haven't made in a while, Guinness Stew.  I made this many times with friends from college, when we were working summer stock.  I love that we experimented with it and tweaked the recipe together over time.  This time I branched out even further than our settled recipe, by adding bacon, and serving it over mashed potatoes.  And yes, this project included salt.  In the stew, the mashed potatoes, and the cooking water for the potatoes. Challenge: Floo - Grunnings
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: Even more dishcloths for mom

Brief Description:  You may remember back in early December, when my parents were visiting, I made a TON of dishcloths.  I had been trying to get my mom to convert to them for years, and she always resisted.  But when she was at my house, she didn't have much of a choice, since I don't keep disposable sponges around.  So I sent her home with 11 or 12 dishcloths....  which she then proceeded to give to other people.  She called me a few weeks ago to ask for more of them.  So even though I was so proud of having stash busted so much cotton yarn, I had to go out and buy 3 new skeins to make her more of them.   Tongue  Hopefully since these are blue and were made to match her kitchen, she'll keep these ones.  As a fun bonus, the fuzzy looking yarn is actually a scrubby one, that I hate working with on its own, but works up okay as an accent to regular cotton yarn.  The round ones are the Fireblossom Dishcloth pattern on Ravelry.
The square ones are a pattern I improvised, in an effort to use the scrubby yarn as an accent.  If anyone wants the improvised pattern, I noted it on my Ravelry page, and will happily send it to you if asked.  (Apologies for the blurry center pic.)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Headmistress Challenge March - Flying Car
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Floral Dandelion Double Zipper Purse
Brief Description: This was my test run of the Dandelion Double Zip Handbag from Blue Calla Patterns, and the "real" version is one of my projects for my Love to Do list.  It's made mostly from stash, except I had to order extra large rivets from Purse Supply Depot, because the posts on the regular ones wouldn't hold the 4 layers of vinyl on each strap.  It has two main zip pockets, but then the middle also has a magnetic closure and has a bunch of extra slip pockets, so it definitely feels "bigger on the inside"!
