I finished my Dragon Wing Shawl!  This project worked up so quickly and easily.  The pattern is the Lizard Shawl and is free.  The yarn is Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball in Feng Shui Grey.  I would absolutely make this pattern again.  Possibly with something that will keep a more defined edge than the Shawl in a Ball does, though I did find the row of border to be a big help.  (So much so that I did a second round of sc border to really help define the edges.)  After doing some weighing and some weird yarn math, it looks like I used 1.57 skeins of the yarn, along with a 5.0mm hook.

There's not much in this world that can't be improved by either chocolate, bacon or glitter.

I've always admired that style shawl, but never saw how to wear it.  Would you mind posting a pic of how it's worn?

Before I made my first shawl in this style (the narrow-elongated triangle) I wondered that too.  It all depends on a couple factors.  Just how long vs how skinny is the overall piece?  How thick is your yarn and how heavy is the shawl?  How drapey is the yarn?  And how do you WANT to wear it?

A really long, really skinny triangle, made from a very thin lightweight yarn ends up being more like a scarf, and can be worn looped around and tucked in like an infinity scarf.  This one was made with silk fingering-weight.

A moderate length shawl that has some real width to it at one end can be worn with the widest point almost like a bib over your chest, that end over one shoulder, with the middle wrapped around the opposite shoulder and back of the neck, and the narrowest end dangling back over the first shoulder.  This one was made with a dk weight silk yarn.

Here's one that's a DK or Worsted weight, that has some real width to it:

This one is probably something like a sock weight yarn, and is soft and drapey, worn like a scarf:

This one is probably the thinnest yarn, maybe a fingering weight.  It's also worn scarf-like because it's so thin AND so narrow.

Thanks, Mistress Jennie!  Does it stay in place, or do you need something to hold it in place?

It has enough texture to stay wrapped around you if you're doing gentle stuff like reading, using the computer, crocheting, etc.  But if I was going to be running errands or something I'd use a shawl pin.
