I am designing a bag for myself, loosely based on the Sheree-Lee from Spun, but using different yarns and needles and a slightly different shape.  Therefore, I don't know which size needles to use for best felting effect.  Would it be better to start with a semi-loose fabric?  I will be using Lion Brand's Fishermen's Wool or Knit Picks' Wool of the Andes and have size 5, 7, 8, and 9 needles at my disposal.  Help deciding which size would be best is much appreciated  Grin

Generally for felting they say to use needles 1 or 2 sizes larger than what the yarn recommends, so the stitches are loose and can felt together rather than being too tight and not having the room to felt.

Goodbye Tucson! I will miss how everything dried so quickly!

Yes, the more space in the stitch, the better it will felt...

But then again, some fibers that are wool, such as Kureyon, do not felt as well as some others....test swatches are a good idea sometimes...=)
