Crouching Mantis, Hidden Bat.

I had a blast carving this! My bf thinks the eyes are a bit demonic, but I like it. I just had to carve a praying mantis after I found my first one ever in our yard!



After some thought, I decided to carve on the back too, for two reasons. First, I hate wasting perfectly good pumpkin canvas. Secondly, I was worried that two little holes wouldn't be enough fresh air for the candle, since I only carved all the way through on the eyes. So, I added a bat silhouette! In the right light (which is really hard to capture) the glowy bat shows up on the wall.

So awesome! It reminds me of the mantis vehicle with glowing eyes in Coraline!
