Squirrel Pattern: from the book Knitted Woodland Creatures
Acorn Pattern (crochet): http://greatgreycrochet.blogspot.com/2012/12/scrats-acorn.html

Make this for the IYP swap, and it was... a challenge.  I knew it was a bit of a complicated pattern, and I think a little unnecessarily so.  A lot of the end sewing up could have been avoided (and in my case, probably look better) by knitting in the round.  Like the tail, which is knit as a flat piece and then sewn... but I'd rather knit on DPNs than EVER seam my knitting.  I hate seaming!

And I also broke a knitting needle.  Sad  I'd just bought them, thankfully on clearance, and this was the first project I used them on!

So here's what you have when you finish knitting and get ready to sew!

But once he was all sewn up, I was pretty happy with how he turned out.  I added a little crocheted acorn for decoration!

It's mine! All mine! I love it! It sits on my couch with a wonderful woodland animal quilt I got in another swap. It's funny, the squirrel is as big as Maisy my dog. LOL!

LUCKY!  I have been looking for that book now because I kind of want to make one, especially as I have some different colours of fun fur leftover from another project that could make nice bushy tails.

How does Maisie feel about that?  I am pretty sure that could be a terrifying prospect for some dogs  Smiley

I thought for sure she would be upset or want to attack it but she is actually fine. She barks at it occasionally to play with her but mostly she ignores it.
