I promised myself that the next time I strung a crystal I would do my best to move out of my rainbow comfort zone and make something that reflects another colour combo I like. In my actual life, in dress and decor, I tend towards earthy shades and jewel tones. I think I managed to make something that would look right in any room of our home.

This is the third time friends have gathered at our house for a Saturday crafternoon session. This time our Auntie joined us along with a friend who came for the first time. It was great, we ate cookies, drank tea, and spent a good hour sorting beads then another almost hour stringing them. At first people were glancing at each other's arrangements but after a bit we were all so engrossed in our own colours and patterns that by the end what everybody else had made was a terrific surprise. Each one turned out unique and gorgeous, check them out:

Here they are again with a little info:
Made by our friend who is currently enrolled in environmental studies. She is a soft-spoken, gentle sweet heart with such kindness. I love how soft, fresh and ethereal her choices look together. She used some of my favourites from the selection of beads, fiber optic, fluorite chips, crystal, lots of clear which just looks amazing.

This beauty is the creation of our neighbour, a mom and grade school teacher who studied art in secondary school but finds little time to get creative in her busy life. I am entranced with the patterning, fancy bead-work, the sparkly clear break in the middle of all that fabulous rainbow weaving. Just WOW.

Made by someone new to the group, a vivacious friend from Lithuania who had an unexpected weekend day free. She is an amazing person, super charismatic and energetic. Some of the beadwork here is quite complex and 3 dimensional, I'm not sure how she did it but I love the way it turned out.

Here is what our Auntie put together, it is spectacular! She managed to combine a pattern with enough randomness that she just hit the right visual combo spot on. I know she loves blue best but rather than stay within that spectrum alone she added a perfect amount of other shades to compliment and highlight the blues.

It is so neat how everybody's personality, or at least where they were emotionally today, is reflected in their creation. I am enjoying this group so much, it really is just the best thing seeing how each person takes the same supplies and makes something so different. I love it.

Thank you Smiley. I saw the double-helix rainbow strand hanging in our neighbour's window yesterday where it looked absolutely fabulous.
