I LOVE Thanksgiving and feel it gets pushed aside with everyone rushing into Christmas, but not in my house!
I wanted an easy pattern with an easy repeat so I could get the rhythm down so I made this table runner.  The pattern is super simple:
with H hook, ch 40
Row 1: DC in 3rd ch from hook and each ch to end (38 st), turn
Row 2: Ch 2 (does NOT count as dc) DC in 3, *ch2, sk2, DC in 3* repeat to end (creates 7 ch2 spaces and 8 clusters of 3 DC), turn
Row 3: Ch 2 (does NOT count as dc) DC in 3, *2DC in each ch2 space, DC in 3* repeat to end (38 st), turn
repeat rows 2 & 3 until desired length (end on row 2)
Voila!  Done!
I used 1 skein of Red Heart in Fall (it was $2.97 at WalMart so even if I didn't get the pattern I wasn't out a huge amount of money)
Thinking about making placemats just a tad wider to match (if you do go wider just increase your starting chains by multiples of 5

I adore this and I will be making one as soon as I'm done with holiday crafting!

You say you used Red Heart yarn...do you find with the acrylic yarn that what you put on it tends to slide/move a bit?  Or even the entire thing sliding/moving on the table a bit?  I'm wondering if cotton yarn would be better?

Thank you for posting the pattern!

I did the "slide test" on my dining table and it stuck rather well.  I also have a candle holder on there and it didn't budge.  I chose this *cheap* yarn as a tester.  Cotton yarn would definitely be worth trying, maybe I'll do that for the Christmas version

I'd be interested in finding out if the cotton yarn works better.  Thanks for your response!
