One of the gentlemen at work lost his mother recently and I was asked to make a card for everyone to sign.  It felt like we lost one of our own, especially as she was also a patient for awhile too so we got to know her, and saw the love he had for her.

Anyways, I made this for him, it is quite large, with lots of space so everyone can add a message of love and support for him.

I went with a Fall theme - I wanted it to be more masculine, and incorporating something I love too.

I did a distressed, inked, textured base, and die cut leaves,  using a combination of metallic painted card stock and inked paper.

Inside it is a tri-fold card, and the total base of the folded card is 8.5 x 5.5" - so it has lots of room for messages.  I also made a coordinating envelope for it.

More pics and details on the blog if you are interested, including some details how I made it.

This is quite lovely. Your coworkers trust for making this card was very well placed.

We love this guy.  He is such a sweet heart and even though he sometimes looks harsh - he is a marshmallow.  He knows I love to cook and have a thing for vintage books (and am conflicted to keep them or craft with them), and left me a bunch of vintage cookbooks he found one day.  He knew we were sad after losing Toby and tried to hook us up with someone who had to give up their dog - it did not work out, but then he tried.
When I first started there, I had a seriously terrible orientation - where new staff now get 6 weeks and several days in class, I got buddied for 2 day shifts, one night shift, and 1 in class day about a month after I started - this guy was the one who helped guide me in procedures and processes.  He would go out of his way to show kindness for some of the elderly who ended up having prolonged stays - to the point where most of them fell in love with him.

We never forget to thank him - but I hope he knows really how special he is to us.

Very touching story.  Anyone reading this can feel the love that you and your coworkers share.  Onyxnox, never doubt what a blessing you are.  Beautiful card.
