For those of you not familiar with the Princess in Black series (which I highly recommend!) here are some image references:
Princess Magnolia/the Princess in Black
Princess Sneezewort and the other princesses

The bulk of my daughter's Princess Magnolia costume was made for last year, but I fixed the zipper and we got new shoes for this year.  Puffy pink ball gowns for the win!

Dressed for the storybook character parade at school.

Ready for the Fall Ball.

Princess Magnolia fixes her tiara.

So this year, I made the coordinating costume I'd meant to do before, so that I could dress as Princess Sneezewort:

"How curious!"

Photos as taken by the 5yo, so some of them are perhaps not quite framed as I would have chosen...

With hat.

Without hat.

"I have to take a picture of your flower, Mommy!"

and some costume details:

Flower hat pinned over my hair.  Possibly I ought properly to have had a wig (or even one of those crocheted wig hats!) for next time but this was the quick fix for getting my 4+ feet of hair out of the costume.

tulle petals so I didn't have to worry about a frame to keep them pointed up/outwards, and buttons for flower texture.

I bought the tutu, since I feel I'm at a point in my life where I'm ok with spending $20 so someone else can deal with gathering miles of tulle, but my best option on shoes turned out to be buying something the right shape to paint, which was a new adventure for me.  (But now I have textile medium!  So I can do it again!)

In progress

Painted!

And with new sparkly laces.

Ugh, it's like Thanos, ok?  the long E is the feminine ending.  (Also, I prefer *not* to destroy the universe when possible.)

I am not familiar with the series, but must say, the costumes are great. Also, what a talented 5 year old photographer you have!

You girls are too cute, looks like you both had a lot of fun making and wearing those costumes.
