I was invited to a 'Captains' party for Halloween. Not having a costume on-hand that was appropriate, I decided to make one...in less than two weeks.

To be quite honest, I've always wanted a Star Trek uniform, and this was a great excuse to get one.

I found the pattern on eBay. A few websites sell them, but I was strapped for time and they promised 3-day shipping. The fabric isn't entirely accurate to the screen-used costumes, but the colors were right. The rank pips and badge were purchased, as was the undershirt. I did have to dye the undershirt the correct color and reinforce the collar for the pips.

It was a bit wrinkled after coming out of the wash...

Ooh, the costume is great! And you look beautiful in it too. You could be on the show. I'd believe you were a Star Trekker if I saw you on the telly. Did you get crazy amounts of comments? I bet you did...

Thank you so much! I did get quite a few compliments on it and most people knew right away who I was supposed to be. It helped that I have the same haircut Kate had for part of the series.

Aww! Thank you! I'm really only a few years younger than Kate was at the beginning of the series.

I really lucked-out with this pattern. I didn't have time to make a practice version and there were a lot of complaints about some of the available patterns being very short in the body. Luckily, I'm 5'2" and the fit was just about perfect. I did have to make the shoulders narrower to avoid looking like a football player, though. Cheesy
