US domestic mail has been pretty bad lately. I mailed something for this swap and it was suppose to arrive today. But in 5 days it only traveled 20 minutes.

Well that sucks!

I understand if there is a need to strike, but to do so so close to the holidays is not acceptable.  I'm sorry that is happening.

Believe me, that isn't their choice. They have been negotiating for YEARS and getting nowhere. I fully support the postal workers in this, what is happening to some of them is grossly unfair. It is inconvenient for us but I support them. This too shall pass, I'll find alternate shipping, thanks for the info Onyx.

I received my first ornament from gigglygirl.  This bear is great with his sleepy eyes, bow and button heart.  I love the fact that his appedages are movable, he can 'stand' or sit on a branch in the tree.  Can't wait to see it there!  Thanks so much gigglygirl.

I totally agree that this union has concerns that have led to this strike and understand why they're doing it!  I've just heard on the news that packages can be delayed for 30 days right now (!!??? again)...  Wow.  They also said that our government has asked EVERY country to stop shipping to Canada until the strike is over - That was pretty stunning to hear.

In true Canadian spirit - Sorry in advance if this drags out the swap or if any of your ornaments arrive after the holidays   Undecided Wink

I understand if there is a need to strike, but to do so so close to the holidays is not acceptable.  I'm sorry that is happening.

I know we try to stay away from politics on Craftster, but since this issue directly affects this swap, thought I'd add another perspective. Since you and I are both former teachers I hope I can explain a possible reason for the timing in a way that we can easily empathize. Which would be the more effective time for a teacher strike, during the summer when kids aren't in class anyway or during the school year when students are missing learning opportunities every day a settlement hasn't been reached? As my state legislators learned this spring, the pressure on them increased exponentially the longer the school year was disrupted. I suspect the Canadian postal workers are using a similar technique, striking when postal usage is at the highest volume.

Having said that, I regret the timing as well but support our northern neighbors. At least I understand why three of my packages may be very slow to arrive. Sorry Onyxnox, gala-apples, and Koreena!

I understand the logistics behind it in terms of greater pressure - but on saying that, there will also be more pressure on the government to legislate them back to work too, and also loss of public empathy too.
