I just love the imagery and bright colors with black that comes with Dia de los Muertos.  I recently made a wreath with felt flowers that inspired my idea to make this pumpkin.  and I love how it turned out.

I just wanted to make a small pumpkin, so I went to Michaels to buy the smallest pumpkin they had (good thing I went when I did.  they only had 3 left).  I made rosettes and a few leaves from bright felt, then made a stencil from a skull picture I found online (if you're familiar with your fonts, you probably know this is the Wingding skull from the skull and crossbones ding).  because the stencil was made from regular printer paper, the right side of the skull was deformed when I sponged white paint onto the pumpkin.  no worries, though.  I had planned on covering the top of the skull anyway.  I glued the flowers and leaves to the pumpkin, then used rhinestones to decorate the skull.  I didn't want to go too crazy with the rhinestones and just went with a simple sugar skull look.

you can see how small this pumpkin is.  it easily fits in my hand.  Cheesy

thank you all!!!

it is a little hard to tell it's a pumpkin with the lighting not really showing the shape and the flowers kind of hiding the stem (it's there.  the black and white spot behind the purple flower).  but it is!  I swear!  Cheesy

and thank you, rackycoo!
