Details of swap:
Do you love fabric? Like to stitch? Enamored with sashiko, boro or the slow cloth movement? If so, then let's swap patches! Unsure of what this is all about? Here are some links to inspiration:
BORO - rooted in Japan, this was functional in origin. As clothing wore out, more fabric pieces were added as a patch. With many layers and thread forming the
fabric. Typically, they used parallel running stitches, which covered the cloth.
https://www.1millionwomen.com.au/blog/how-traditional-boro-clothes-mending/ SASHKIO - is a type of embroidery meant to be started on one side, and worked diagonally across the fabric. Generally seen on indigo (or black) fabric with white
thread. There are special sashiko needles which are longer to weave through the fibers (but you don't need them to stitch). There has been some expansion into
other colors of fabric and thread, but the rules on where and how the stitches run remain. Grew out of the boro fabric/layering.
https://www.seamwork.com/issues/2016/04/sashiko KANTHA - a type of embroidery/stitching from Bangladesh /India involving layers of fabric and long running stitches. These are typically very colorful and
celebratory, many given as gifts.
https://www.shopdignify.com/pages/what-is-kantha SLOW CLOTH - this is more of a movement or concept, applied to fabric, thread, intention, and even to life. This article really helped me understand the philosophy

http://spiritcloth.typepad.com/spirit_cloth_101/Patches can go on your jeans, jacket, collected for a purse or use them as part of a bigger art project.
We will be signing up for one to two partners (new swappers limited to one partner), and you and your partner will agree on the exact number of patches to swap, between 1 and 3 patches of equitable sizes. For example, if partner 1 would like a 4" x 6" patch and their partner wants 3" x 4" patches, partner 1 should be making two 3" x 4" patches for every 4" x 6" patch received. The option is always open to make your item into a final object, just please make sure to communicate clearly with your partner - all exchanges should be fair, and clearly discussed.
