I have been on a total felt kick lately in my crafting. I cannot stop thinking of things to make into felt ornaments! (If only there were more time!) I was super excited to have my six-year-old daughter watch Hocus Pocus for the first time this year and that's what inspired these ornaments. I stitched a lot of it while we were watching the movie on repeat. Cheesy

Project Details:
Pattern: None, I based it off a picture I found on a Google image search. If you'd like the files I made based of these, just message me. Cheesy
Material: Cheapo craft store felt and DMC floss.
Size: 3in diameter
Notes: I had total plans for awesome cursive writing on the backs using stem stitch but I quickly found out that without being able to actually write/make a pattern for the words it was super hard to freehand it. I did have a smart idea to loosely stitch some guidelines to help make straighter lines. I was impatient and didn't do this for the last ornament (Sara) and you can most definitely tell.

Close ups and back of ornaments:

Here's what I was talking about with stitching "guidelines". This is probably a trick lots of people know but I felt like a total genius when I thought of it so I thought I'd share in case it might help someone else too. Smiley

Thanks for stopping to check these out. Cheesy

WhistleFish!!!!!

If you could hear me, oh the crazy! I WAS JUST PLOTTING a Sanderson Sister project LAST NIGHT. I stitched them up for a Halloween swap a few years ago, but these are, well. These are just brilliant!!!  Look how cute they are?!  Gah! I am sputtering!  Her hair dipping below the line. And the extra pizzazz around is just the extra that puts them over the edge.

Also, I'm def going to steal your stitching guidelines tip. Verra  clever.

Awesome felt renditions of that wicked trio!  I've never seen the three sisters done featureless before either, which is a neat look.  Sarah's ornament also looks like Disney's Tangled Rapunzel to me (the combination of purple and long blonde hair).  Speaking of which, I also really like how you have her tresses "breaking" the circular border and escaping below.

I've never stitched letters in my life, but I'll definitely keep your guidelines tip filed away for future reference in some dusty corner of my mind if I ever do!

What great colors and bold images!  I know the animator Matt Groening has said a good animated character has a silhouette that you can identify immediately, and these certainly do!  Did you add any padding to these?  I for one have never heard of the guidelines trick.

Thank you guys so much for the kind words! You guys are the best!

JoyfulClover: I cant wait to see what you come up with for a new Sanderson sister project! Thanks for the kind words. Cheesy

Excelsior: No padding but the multiple layers puff them up quite a bit. The black felt is 1.5-2mm thick (almost double what normal craft felt is) and I used two (one to sew everything on, one for the backing) so the ornaments are pretty thick and hearty.

These are awesome. Even more impressive that you made the patterns yourself. What a fun movie to share with your daughter.
