While not made specifically for Halloween, this costume will probably serve double duty for me this year.

I made it to march in Burlington VT's pride parade with my friend Brad Peacock who is running for US Senate!

The dress is t-shirt scraps hand sewn onto a base shirt.

The feathers were given to me by a farmer friend whose bird was actually named after Brad's father. I wanted to leave them intact and with no glue, so I made this backpack style carrier. It has stays sewn into it every inch on top and in the middle so I can position the feathers however I want.

We had such a great time at the parade and the festival after! It was a windy day which gave the feathers some great movement.

(Special appearance by a bow tie I made last month!)

I love it. Ingenious feather holders and the hand stitching knocks this project right over the top. Gorgeous!

I like the way you incorporated a peacock's plumage colors into the shapes/patterns on the dress.  The cut/form, particularly the jagged skirt, also has a fairy-feel to it in my eyes.  And I also dig that you actually had real peacock feathers to work with!

Women in peacock costumes always remind me of the She-Ra character, Peekablue:

This is great!  I like how it looks like kind of a fun concept on the mannequin & then is really lovely on you/in motion. Smiley

Dang you're clever. I tried something with feathers a few years ago but it failed miserably because I never could reach a solution.
