I had been looking (for a long time) for a good candidate to re-root with some of my own hair which I chopped off several years ago... and finally found one! She had a beautiful original scalp and hard cap, so I went to town.
Since it's human hair, I used the knot method which I think is more tedious, and looks sloppier underneath. It also takes up more space, so I'm currently not using the hard cap.

Some progress shots of the long and slow process:

I was originally going to give her a haircut, but I kind of like her crazy long hair, haha!

Whoa, wow. That is really interesting, a natural hair doll wig. It will make washing and styling it easy for sure. Cool.

This is the first time I've ever seen a reroot with natural hair. It looks great, I respect your patience!

All I can think is that this would make a powerful voodoo doll! Be careful it doesn't get into the wrong hands  Cheesy

We usually donate hair when cutting off enough of it but a friend of ours does some crafting with it (and her cat's hair too, she felts it into balls and strings them for necklaces. Which is weird. Awesome but weird).
lunke13 I could see one of your horrors adorned with hair. Dreadlocks would be incredibly icky on a terror-bear. There's a lamp shade made of those on here somewhere... You don't really see a lot of projects like that, it's pretty darn personal using a part of your own body.

That's really cool M&C!  She's lovely!  Which doll was she originally?  I love her sweet dress.

I wonder if there is any interest in a Blythe Swap?

CraftyLittleMonkey - I have definitely felted cat hair things! (I actually have a book of cat deleting project ideas somewhere... A friend gave it to me; not sure I would have bought it, haha!)

Under the mountain- she was a sidepart blonde Kenner with re-painted lips. I guess her original hair was completely unsalvageable, so she arrived to me bald.

A Blythe swap might be fun! I know there are a few people still around here with some dolls...

I like Kit-Kat, unless I'm with 4 or more people.
