For my birthday in January my SIL and her fam sent me this super cool "F" from an old sign. See, both me and The ManFlesh (and his sister) have the same last initial: F.  It seems to have been lit or otherwise electrical at one point based on the access holes in the back and the UL Listed sticker. So I thought, I'd use some solar LEDs to re-light it and hang it on our main gate!

We live in the woods on the side of a mountain in Montana, but we are still in a "neighborhood" of sorts, so it's nice to have another way for people to tell that this is our driveway.

It was all the original white color when I got it. The inside has some very sloppily applied white silicone caulking at the seam where the back and sides join, so I knew painting that wasn't going to work, so I decided to paint the exterior with copper spray paint that I had on hand.

The solar LEDs are tacked into place in a few spots just to help fight gravity using bandaging tape, because a) I had it on hand, b) it is white to blend in with the interior, and c) hoping it will be resilient with changes in humidity and temperature. We'll see!

And here is what it looks like during the day.

And here is what it looks like from the road at night. Well, it's a little bigger-looking in real life than on the camera, but still.

I bought the LEDs in a set of 2 in order to put some on the house, too. We used to have 150 LEDs that looked like traditional white bulbs on the house and the squirrels chewed through the wires and made off with 136 of them! That's right, all but 14 bulbs! Hopefully these tiny ones won't look like they are filled with seeds to the squirrels!
