While I consider myself an intermediate crocheted Ive never really gotten the hang of amigurumi until I read a site that listed out some common issues newbies make when crocheting amigurumi. That helped me a lot and really helped with the frustration I always had when I tried.

I made these little guys recently for my partners in the Fukubukuro swap.

It was
https://www.planetjune.com/blog/amigurumi-troubleshooter/

My 2 issues that I was doing wrong - I was not doing a continuous spiral- I was doing a slip stitch to end each round.
And I was not turning my work inside out after a few rounds. Had no idea I was supposed to as most patterns dont tell you specifically to do that. Turning it inside out made such a HUGE difference in my frustration levels!

They are adorbz, what fun animals you chose to make! I received a platy in the Unloved Creatures swap and, well, I love it Cheesy.
Planetjune is an awesome site. I've found some really great pins with excellent tips too but the best resource imho is this book. It's not ami specific but almost every secret trick I've collected online is in there.
The crochet discussion board here is awesome as well Smiley.

Awesome. I checked it out from the library about 4 times before buying a copy.
Here is the best tip I have EVER seen for stripes BTW. It is truly brilliant and I'm not sure I've ever seen it anywhere else.
