Hey everybody, time to share my latest Abandoned Toy.  Grin

For those of you unfamiliar with my work, what I do is take abandoned or preowned toys and make them ugly to represent our throwaway society. I'm on my own personal mission to save as many toys from landfill as I can!

Introducing Bubbles, the organ grinder's monkey.

Bubbles' waistcoat and hat are made using leather stripped from an old sofa. His teeth are made from resin.

I'm sure I have a before picture somewhere. If I do, I'll come back later and edit my post. Smiley

I stitch in felt for the inside of the mouth. I use superglue to attach the teeth. The fibres from the felt help create a stronger bond Smiley

Oh, well you know I love this. So cute, your Bubbles! And such a great name too, ha ha. It was my name, in fact, when I was a Beaver leader.

Do you cast the teeth yourself? I have seen them for sale but they are quite costly, I wondered since you use so many if you have started making them on your own? They really add that extra something horrible-wonderful.

Creepy primate and it looks pretty sharp in that vest and fez!  Whenever I see evil little monkeys, all I can ever think about is that cymbal-crashing one from the Stephen King short story, which never ceases to give me the shivers.

Thanks everyone Smiley

No, I still buy the teeth. I sculpt some of my own fangs, but I buy the human like teeth. I found a cheaper supplier Smiley

I love working with them. They make a wonderful transformation  Grin
