We've been working on this for ages and I think it's finally, finally at a point where I can stop spending all dang day long every single day sweating in the yard, whew!

After all the gardening I borrowed a neighbour's powerwasher, cleared all the junk and garbage off that concrete and got it all sparkly clean.

All the little baby veggies, yay! They make me so happy Smiley. I've been saving eggshells, regular and from Easter, ha ha, to put around the seedlings for nutrients but also keeping away slugs, eww!
We planted many types of tomatoes, peppers and lettuces, 2 varieties of kale, 2 types of beans, cucumbers, zucchini, snow peas, nasturtium, parsley, basil, thyme, oregano, snap dragons, watercress, lemon sorrel, and there's a big bucket of raspberry from the neighbour that keeps coming back every year.

To get to this point we had the boxes built and filled them with dirt, replaced the fence on the left hand side, had an old garage taken down and hauled away then moved the boxes and dirt across the yard into the space the garage used to be in. We pulled up an interlocking brick path in the far back yard and used the bricks to make a walky path around the boxes. I also shoveled about 2 cubic yards of dirt out of the far back and into the alley (to get it out of the yard but also to smother the crazy weeds out there, I'm going to top it with landscaping fabric and straw. It will only last a year or two but still, that's better than the usual jungle out there!). I am still pulling up stones from the far back to move to the front yard but LOOK AT HOW AWESOME THIS IS ALREADY!

We're saving up to have the back fence replaced and a deck built in the far back from the end of that concrete to the back fence. It is going to be the nicest yard evar!

We had the boxes built 2 years ago and planted mostly cherry tomatoes which seeded themselves and came back the next year. This summer all the dirt got moved across the yard so I assumed any seeds would be deep in the soil and not be able to sprout up. WRONG! They are popping up all over the place! I've had to pull some out because those suckers grow Way Huge and would take over everything but I did leave a few of the intrepid wee things just to see how they'll do.

It looks amazing!
Your hard work has really paid off.
And when your veggies and other plants are fully grown, it will look even more wonderful.
Now you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the results of your work.

Thank you Smiley. The man was out there at 6am doing his morning meditation, ha ha. I realize I have another full day outside, or at least until the forecast rain starts up, to finish up a few more things. My crafting time has been sorely infringed upon these past few days though so I may find myself up in the attic instead Wink.

I keeping thinking about Ludi's comment when we first had those boxes built. She said "Take that, concrete!"

LOL Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy, take that, concrete, indeed!
