The ManFlesh has lived another year, so to help celebrate I made an ice cream pie. He's not much for cake, but is a BIG fan of ice cream AND of pie, so this seemed like a good bet!

I used this recipe that I found via Pinterest. My local grocery didn't have the lemonade flavor of Kool-Ade, but did have pink lemonade, so the "pie" came out pink rather than yellow. I left out the food coloring, but I did throw together a topper at the last minute. Since I felt a little like I was cheating on not making the ice cream, I made the graham cracker crust.

That sound tasty!  And I like that I could use my dairy-free ice cream in it.  It's hard to find deserts that aren't full of lactose.

Oh yes! And I'm sure one could sub the butter in the crust, too. And ANY flavor of frozen stuff in the filling.

Fun fact of the day:  Butter (real dairy butter) has no lactose in it!  Lactose is a milk sugar in the liquid portion of the milk, and butter is made purely from the fat portion of the milk.  This is why some hard cheeses, like cheddar, have little-to-no lactose either.  They are made from the fat as well, and then any remaining lactose goes in the aging process.  Soft cheeses like brie though, have way more liquid milk in them and therefore lots more lactose.  So if you have a lactose intolerant friend, and you want to bring dessert, feel free to use butter.  But if they have an milk allergy, then avoid it entirely.

Ahhhhh! Thanks! I will be tempted to just bring butter... BUTTER IS EVERYTHING!  Cheesy
