There's a new Floo up on the board (sorry it's a day late!)

This week we are in...
Tokyo
Tokyo is the most heavily populated metropolitan area in the world! Please reflect this by crafting something with a very busy or full pattern!

class/challenge- Alchemy
house- griffindor
project- yarn wrapped bottle

Our library has craft workshops. The projects are simple, but it's relaxing to meet up with a group and chat while working. sometimes the process is more important than to result.

project- cork board
another library workshop. I used the cricut to make a stencil to personalize this "what's for dinner?" corkboard for my kitchen. it's a handy spot for recipie cards and lists. https://www.instagram.com/p/BkyOZLKg2HH/?taken-by=jc4strong

Psst...  for those of you still having photo hosting issues, if you have Gmail, you can use Google's photo hosting.  I forgot they even had the service, but discovered it by accident on Tuesday.

Class: CoMC
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name & Link: Scissor Fob for sheepBlue

Brief Description: This was created as a tiny surprise for sheepBlue.  I was mailing her some yarn she couldn't get in her area, and wanted to add a few goodies to brighten her day.  Hopefully this will keep anyone from stealing her snips!
Project Picture:

Class: Divination
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name & Link: Stitch Markers for sheepBlue

Brief Description: Stitch markers are a simple & useful project, AND they can be used in the creation of larger projects.  This set was also made for sheepBlue, and include references to some of her favorite things.
Project Picture:

Class: Herbology
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name & Link: Strawberry Basil Muffins

Brief Description: My dog woke me at 4:45 on the 4th.  Because jerks in our neighborhood were setting off fireworks all night on the 3rd, she was too scared to pee before bed, so she got me up before dawn.  So I made myself muffins as a consolation prize.  These were inspired by what I had on hand.  Namely strawberries in my fridge, and a nice full basil plant on my porch.  I also made some basil & garlic compound butter, but I'm not thrilled with how it came out.  Since the recipe called for using raw garlic, it's a bit too pungent and overwhelming.  I think I'm going to try using what I made up on some garlic bread (so the raw garlic gets mellowed a bit in the oven), and maybe try a new batch with either no garlic, or just a little of the pre-minced garlic in a jar that I keep in the fridge.  Huzzah for fresh herbs all summer long!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Match #2: Wollongong
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name & Link: Strawberry Dishcloths

Brief Description: When I saw the pattern, I couldn't resist making some bright red strawberry dishcloths to help the Wollongong Warriors score.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Match #3: Tarapoto Treeskimmers
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name & Link: Aloe Dishcloths

Brief Description: A set of light green dishcloths to help the Tarapoto Treeskimmers score.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Match #8: Pride of Portree
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name & Link: Amethyst Dishcloth

Brief Description:  This project is a bit of a weird one for me.  I've been trying to stash bust, and I found a bag of bits and pieces of dishcloth yarn.  There was some of two shades of purple, a few bits of the same grey, and two partial skeins of white.  So I kinda made up my own pattern, inspired by the colors found in an amethyst geode, and dependent on how much of each color I had.  Since it's so scrappy, it's not as neat and even as I might normally make, and somewhere there's an extra stitch that made it a bit wonky, but oh well.  It's just going to get dirty while doing the dishes anyways, and now there's more room in my cotton yarn drawer.

~*COMPLETED OWL*~
OWL Subject & Option: Care of Magical Creatures, Option 1
House:
Gryffindor!

Project Name: Cloud Waves Silk Shawl
Brief Description: This project has been over 2 years in the making.  I bought the kit in March of 2016, after some personal tragedy.  I had hoped to work on it while couch bound for a few weeks, but it didn't ship out until after I was back up on my feet.  After that I had a hard time looking at it for a while, so I put it off until November of 2016.  I started working on it, off an on since then.  Sometimes everyday for a week, other times I'd ignore if for a few months.  But I'm trying hard to stash bust & finish up WIP's right now, so I pushed myself to finish it over the last several weeks.  Special Thanks to the members of the Crochet Shawl Along here on Craftster, who encouraged me when I really needed it.

Challenge: Floo Tokyo
House: ravenclaw
Project: card book update
I added yet more busyness to my card book by binding in all the cards I've collected in the last year or so

Challenge: Quid 7 tutshill tornadoes
House: ravenclaw
Project: Baby socks
This noro yarn has lots of shades including sky blue. It did a funny abrupt switch to dark blue on the first sock, which I mimicked on the second to make sure they look like a pair!

Challenge: Quid 8 pride of portree
House: ravenclaw
Project: purple curtain
One more kitchen cupboard curtain up!

I finally got around to post things, so here you go, a mini dump of crafts Cheesy

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Astronomy
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Tiny star taker in a dome
Project Page Link (if available): Blog post
Brief Description: This was created with a mixture of needle felting and glue (seeing as the tiny tiny parts were hard to stay on properly without the glue). Star Taker reminded me about this Grimm story called The Star Talers where a kind girl gives away everything she owns only to be rewarded by the stars at the end.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Detention in the Dungeon: June
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Mermaid in a bottle
Project Page Link (if available): Blog post
Brief Description: I crafted this only with my stash. Now, seeing as my stash is pretty big I didnt have any issue with this challenge. I decided to create this mermaid after I created the fairy for Herbology class. I mostly used clay, but also some glitter and tiny glass beads.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Divination
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Watermelon picnic table
Project Page Link (if available): Blog post
Brief Description: This is a useful project, not only does my picnic table look amazing but Ive found myself using it more than before, so double win. Of course now Im not that happy about letting my son do crafts outside any longer, but its the price I have to pay I guess.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Herbology
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Fairy in a bottle
Project Page Link (if available): Blog post
Brief Description: I was inspired by fairies for this project, but the idea of this project is an old one that I had for years. I finally decided to go for it and so created the fairy sleeping under the mushrooms. I really like this project, it gave me the inspiration for the second piece, the mermaid.
