I'm not certain where something like this goes but assume someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Years ago I subscribed to a craft magazine that had an online site similar to this one.  I made many internet friends who have become very dear to me even tho the magazine & website are long gone.  Several times over the years a group of us have gotten together at someone's home for Play Week.  There were only 4 this time but in the past I've hosted as many as 8 or 9 from all over the U.S.   Everyone brings supplies for projects & we make as many as we  have time for.  It's non-stop crafting with time out for cooking, eating & sleeping.

This year, because there weren't as many, I invited friends from our retirement community to participate & it was fantastic.  At times my house looked as if Hurricane Irma had just been thru because of all the craft supplies heaped about.  When neighbors were in it was even more chaotic with all of the meeting, greeting & talking going on.  It made for a thoroughly fantastic week.

One of our projects was appliques on dishtowels using a play on words.  We used an iron-on bonding material to adhere the design to the towels, embroidered the details & used either embroidery or fabric markers for the lettering.

I made the Crab one while a friend from Texas made the rolling pin.  The "Chicken Cordon Bleu" is the piece that inspired the project.  A neighbor gifted it to me & was kind enough to teach it to the rest of us.

We also floated nail polish on water & dipped ping pong balls.

We made fabric covered styro pumpkins even tho it wasn't Halloween.

Some of our markers & alcohol on tile weren't real successful but we thoroughly enjoyed the attempt.

We also painted on canvas & made soda can art.

There were snowflakes from chothespins & painted 2x4s.

Some of the projects were taken home half finished so I don't have photos of all of them.   We weren't able to finish all of the projects we had planned so we will need to have another Play Week some time soon.

Thank you.  You can find photos & instructions in my gallery on Pages 4 & 5.  I've taught seminars on them several times & people seem to enjoy them.

That sounds like so much fun!

Too bad I can't do the same around here in Belgium.
No crafty friends. (Plus my bad health.)

And look at all those pretty goodies you all made!

BeaG, I'm sorry you haven't anyone to craft with.  Is there perhaps a library or community center that offers classes?  I live in a retirement community in Florida where there are numerous creative people so I can usually find someone to "come play with me".  Perhaps you can join us for our next Play Week.

I was in Belgium (Brussels & Antwerp) 2 years ago & found it beautiful with lovely, friendly people.  I'd return in an instant.

I live in a village near Gent.
I'm sure there are plenty of creative people around here.
But my numerous chronic health issues restrict my physical activity to 2-3 hours a day, on a good day.
Originally I am from The Netherlands. I moved to Belgium in 2007.
I already had most of my health issues when I came here, so I don't know many people here.
(I'm 53 and I had to give up my working career when I was 35.)
I simply don't have the energy to go craft playing with others, or invite them over to my house.
If I could, I most certainly would!
It sounds wonderful.

I am happy for you that you are able to share and enjoy your creativity with others.

If only I was healthy enough to travel to the US to join you. I probably would!
I have a crafty friend in the US who I'd love to visit. She and her husband visited us in 2016. She lives in Oregon and snowbirds in Nevada.

I share my creativity on my Flickr pages (link in my signature, over 4 million views) and here.
And I've had an Etsy shop from 2006 until 2016.
At least the internet allows me to connect with other creative souls.
I love it!

Oh my goodness. It looks like you had so much fun and had such great results with the crafts. I love the towels and the pumpkins especially!
